Gaffers Woodcock Hill Walk 4+1

Saw this series of caches advertised and was intrigued by the history linked with it!
Armed with young PinkFlash minus the Geo Dogs we headed to Woodcock Hill in Borehamwood. We had never been to this part of Borehamwood so it was a nice set of caches to do on a bright Sunday afternoon.
We roughly knew what to expect on our hunt as the description had described nettles! (and Wow! Was there nettles!). Even with trousers on the nettles were felt on the skin. The first cache was a nice easy one and was found as describe in the description. We had to take note the clue in the lid of the cache as this wa needed to help find the bonus cache!

Once the log book had been completed we entered our second coordinates for cache number two. Through more nettles we reached the top of the hill and come across sign telling you the history of the hill and the way it was used for communication. It made a very interesting read.

Continuing with our search for the second cache we waited for some Muggles to leave. Once clear we darted into some bushes. A short search revealed a well hidden second cache. We recorded our find and took note of the clue!
With the coordinates in for Clue 3 we were soon on our way through more nettles and into more bushes. It seemed we had well left the footpath and we were entering an area only visited by wildlife, the adventurous child or a mad Geocacher! Even though this was nice area to visit, we were glad we had not brought the Geo dogs Freddie & Sammy. They would have found the nettles and long grass too much. The third cache was found with the help of the hint, once we had eliminated which tree it was in.
We were now in search for the fourth cache. This cache was taking us further into deep bushes and away from the normal footpath. It was good it was not raining as the route that our GPS was taking us had involved tackling steep dry muddy slopes. We moved into an area that was open. There was signs that a vehicle with caterpillar tracks had once been along here, clearing and chopping down of trees. The hint had indicated that the cache was hidden amongst some logs!
We soon located the cache in a placed described by the hint! With the last clue in hand we made our way back to the footpath and to an empty bench!
Going through each clue we were able to get the coordinates for the bonus cache. With the final search, we arrived at the GZ which was a large tree. At the base of the tree we found our prize. "The bonus cache!"
A very enjoyable Multi cache in area of Borehamwood that we had not visited before!

Park Street Peril

On the way home from Mums we decided to stop off and do a quick cache in Bricket Wood,
The cache was 35mm film container and was located on a railings of bridge crossing the M25.
A nice quick stop and grab and another cache recorded under Pinkflash03.

Our first Mystery Cache!

Wow! Both young Flash & me thought we had this one in the bag. It was late Friday night! We had worked out all the film clues before leaving the house (Well we thought we had) And with Geo dogs in tow and the taste of FTF! We set off to find this mystery cache called "Films". The coordinates led us to a tree in Meadow Park. The hint had mentioned a tree so we were so sure we were on to a winner! How wrong can one be. Due to getting two of the film clues incorrect we ended up totally in the wrong place! In fact we were about a mile out! It was really late and I decided to call it a night! The next day I found the two clues that I had got incorrect and we set out to claim the find. The coordinates took us straight to the cache, but unfortunately we were beaten to FTF! Never mind, still fun to do and we were able to claim our first Mystery cache!

Fishing on the A1

Close cache on the A1 called the "A1 Flyover" With my Geo dogs Freddie & Sammy leading the way, we made our way to GZ which was located on the middle of a bridge crossing the A1. I looked for ages for this cache and at one point I nearly gave up! A final search and a cache craftily hidden was found! Should have taken more notice of the clue. Not my favourite place to find a cache but a cache found is better than not finding one at all!

Another Cache Maintenance!

This time I had to go to Aldenham Country Park in Elstree. The Cache "100 Aker Wood" had been reported missing! This had been the second time that this cache had disappeared. I suspect that it had removed by little Muggle's, as their height was at the same height to where the cache had been hidden!
I have now changed the hiding place and hopefully this will now be out of sight of the really small Muggle's.   Fingers crossed!

Another Multi Cache.......This time at Midnight!

Was not going to let this one slip my grasp! As soon as I saw a Multi Cache in Borehamwood I knew it had to be Gaffer!
I missed out on the last FTF! Due to me changing my e-mail address and not getting a notification.
I could not let this happen again! The only trouble I had now, was that I was still at work and I did not finish until 22:00. Looked like another FTF was going to slip my grasp! Before leaving work I got all the information together on the cache and when finished I rode my bike from Elstree to the 1st clue, which I obtain with no problem. It was now pitch dark and there were alot of young people hanging around in the very dark park! I did not really want to ride my bike through the park, so I decided I would drop my bike off at home and return later with my trusty Geo hounds Freddie & Sammy! (No one would dare approach me with them around!)
This Multi Cache now became my first midnight hunt! With the Geo hounds leading... The rest of the clues were solved and my FTF claimed!
Thank you Gaffer. Another enjoyable Multi! Now it's time for bed!

Time for cache Maintenance

Had been informed that one of my caches was missing its log book. This had been the second log book to go missing from this cache, so not sure what is happening! Will have to keep an eye on it. The strange thing is the other contents are not being touched
So me and the Geo dogs set off to replace the log book on this nice Sunny Bank Holiday Monday!
For a bit of fun I did a video of my cache maintenance!
